ButterflyMX Keypad Design 2020
I began working for ButterflyMX in 2018. As the only in-house industrial designer, my responsibilities were vast. I was tasked with designing two new products that would launch in Q4 2020. My goal as the designer was to create a cohesive product ecosystem with this new product launch. The product I’ve highlighted here is called The Keypad: it is a secondary access device that extends the functionality of the smart-intercom beyond the front door of a building. The Keypad is used to control access to amenity spaces within a building, such as a package room, gym, lounge, etc. It can be controlled entirely by the user’s smartphone, just like the intercom.
My goals in this design project began with understanding which entry-methods were most frequently used in our intercom.
assessment of the previous version. My design goals were augmented by user-feedback we’ve received directly from our clients (property managers), as well as end-users (residents).
I not only designed The Keypad, but also created 3D renders for marketing, dimensioned orthographic drawings, installation guides, wiring diagrams, screenprint design specs for the logo decal, and much more.

Technical Documentation
I designed specs-sheets and dimensioned orthographic drawings of the product to help architects, property developers, and installers with speccing The Keypad into buildings.
These documents are visually consistent across the entire ButterflyMX product line.
Installation Guide
I designed a folding manual to be included in the Keypad packaging. This document contains a packing list, comprehensive installation instructions, and an easily read wiring diagram.
3D Rendering
Product rendering used for both internal and marketing purposes.
